It's exciting to be in the world of entertainment because i love singing.Even though some people think that i have already become a star,I am and always be a fan and admirer of inspiring and truly talented singers and entertainers here in Philippines and abroad. WE Filipinos are natural singers and musicians.I believe the Philippines is realy a land of good musicians.Ordinary people here love to sing,especialy on the videoke.Another country Ive been to which I admire for good music is ITALY .I cant forget when I guested on the TV show OPRAH WINFREY,she remarked to me:'Little girl the big voice." But if you go to Italy,that's one place where you can finds lots of small people with big voices.
Of all the singers in the whole world,my no,1 idol Celine Dion mainly because of her attitude and for what she has achieved,Despite being an international superstar,she was very motherly towards me:she treated me-like daughter.She even gave me her cellphone number.
The other international singing sensation whom I sincerely adore is Whitney Houston,not only because of her tremendous talent,but also because I sang her popular song,I Will Always Love You,in amateur contest and won many times.
Among our Philippine singing stars,I admire Sarah Geronimo whom I call ate Sarah."She is such a good person.Whenever we would meet,she's the one would go out of her way to greet me,so I"m very honored.Whenever ate Sarah sings,you can realy feel the emotions of her song.I love listening to her extraordinary singing voice.She is just so talented.I am grateful for and will never forget ate Sarah's advice to me':Huwag daw lumaki ang ulo ko,to always be humble.
The other local singer diva whom I admire a lot is Regine Velasquez.She's already a legend and everybody idolizes her including my mother Raquel'Kaye" Relucio Pempengco.My Mommy has bought almost all of ate Regines's CD's and tapes and watched her videos.She's a sweet person,Not many people know that she's actualy a shy person.Her voice is so powerful---sweet but powerful.Before our trip to Los Angeles last Febuary,ate Regine invited me to go at her home and cooked carbonara for us.She's an amazingly good cook,too!!
Ate Regine's advice is for me to stay on in the United States,because she said that's where the big opportunities are for singing.However,at the moment,I have no plans to migrate to US.I just travel back and forth because I'm not yet sure what future of my career will be there,and I realy love being here in the Philippines.If not for my being in entertainment now, I would wish to ba a doctor or a lawyer.As a child,I always pretended to be a physician.My younger brother Carl would be play my imaginary patient.I used to watch TV shows featuring the careers of doctors.On my wish to be a lawyer,I am inspired by Tito Michael Gurfinkel.He is not only a successful lawyer specializing in immigration cases,he also has many celebrity clients.He was the one who helped me process my US visa which enabled me to guest on the tv show Ellen .After seeing my star King performance on you-tube,Ellen Degeneres extended an on-air invitation for me to be guest on her show.I sang two songs.Before that important trip,my passport was stolen,It was Atty. Gurfinkel who sought the urgent assistance of the Dapartment of Foreign Affairs to rush my new passport in only one day,then he also rushed to get my US visa in three days.
Although I'm not a writer,my two idols in the literary world are the talented female authors of the Harry Potter {J.K. Rowling} and Twilight {Stephenie Meyer} novels which I enjoyed reading.Others stars whom i idolize include Oprah Winfrey,Ellen Degeneres,David Foster and Andrea Bacilli.
Before I forget,I have a good news to share with all my fellow Filipinos,By the time this magazine comes out,my first album in the US produced by David Foster and Warner Brothers will be released already.Among the songs in the album is NOTE TO GOD,composed by Diane Warren,which I had already recorded.Last april 29,I was set to have a taping for Oprah show.I would also like to promote the Hollywood movie ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS.One international celebrity whom i hope to someday personally meet is Justin Timberlake who is composing a song for me.Someone from Boyz II Men and also will.i.am of black Eyed Peas will make a song for me.
Whenever I'm asked which Philippine showbiz star I consider the most handsome,I say Sam Milby.I have a big crush on him.
I consider Josh Groban and American Idol runner--up David Archuleta as the most handsome showbiz guys internationally.
However,of all the people in this world,my No.1 idol is my 38--year--old Mommy.She's my mentor,she's my fashion stylist and she's also my make-up artist.For me,Mommy is a supper woman.It's also because of her that we have a new two--bedroom condominium unit at the Lion's Park Residences compound in Sun Valley,Sucat,Paranaque City.because she knows the owner of CDC Holdings.Mommy is my heroine,because she has stood by me and my brother Carl as both our mother and father.I was only three years old when our father abandoned our family.To say that Mommy is my idol is an understatement.She is so much more.Ive had no news and absolutely no contact with my father.When I was first guested on Ellen,he was tex ting my mommy and telling her not to use his surname"Pempengco" When we announced on Tv that I will just be using CHARICE as my professional name,his siblings said we were renouncing their surname,They claimed that I became successful because I used the Pempengco surname.But I'm sorry,I think that's ridiculous.If a person today adopts the Pempengco surname,will it make him or her suddenly successful?
I honestly harbor no ill will or bitterness against my father.I have only one message for him.I still thank him.,because w/o him,I will not be on this earth now.
Despite my rescent blessings in the entertainment field and my growing recognition,Mommy always tells me that showbiz is not forever and she tells me to improve myself in non--showbiz areas.Whenever I think to about the greatness of my Mommy,I'd like to shout to the whole world:"MABUHAY ANG KABABAIHAN"'{long live women!},for she is truly a special person who is the secret behind whatever accomplishments I have had and will still aspire for.As told to.
